Kirkendall Funeral Services Thursday Afternoon

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at the Bishop Funeral home for Mrs. Eliza Kirkendall, 87, pioneer Story county woman, who died Tuesday, Mar. 22, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Homer White, southeast of Nevada. The service was in charge of Dr. C. D. Loose of the Methodist Episcopal church and burial was in the Nevada cemetery by the side of her husband, the late Eli Kirkendall.

Mrs. Kirkendall was born Eliza Agnes Golden, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Golden, in Vermillion county, Illinois, on March 8, 1851 and came to Story county with the family when a child of nine years.

She was married to Eli Kirkendall December 24, 1873, nd to this union seven children were born, four of whom, with the husband, preceded her in death.

She leaves two sons and one daughter; they being Howard Kirkendall of Salem, S. D., Mrs. Homer White of southeast of Nevada and Earl Kirkendall of Ames. She also leaves her brothers, J. H. Golden of south of Nevada and J. C. Golden of Santa Ana, Calif. and sisters, Mrs. Laura Moore of Ruthven and Mrs. Elsie Finley of Nevada.

Mrs. Kirkendall, who had lived in or near Nevada for over seventy-nine years, was a woman of many fine characteristics and will be kindly remembered by many of the people of the community.
