Funeral Services at McCallsburg for Maxine Meins
McCallsburg, Dec. 27--The funeral of Maxine Mein took place Thursday, Dec. 22. First there was brief prayer at the home, then the remains were taken to the school house where the following services were conducted "Behold the Host Arrayed in White," sung by Camelia Malmin, Marjorie Ellingson, Hazel Britson and Jean Nail directed and accompanied by Mrs. Erickson. Prayer and brief talk by Rev. Bakke. Remarks by Ralph Dillon. Song by girls' quartet, "Abide With Me."
At the church the services consisted of a solo by Miss Bernice Imsland, "One Sweet Solemn Thought," prayer reading of names of donors of gifts to missions in Maxine's memory, sermon by Rev. Bakke in connection with Proverbs 27, 1, song by girls' quartette, "No Tears in Heaven" Mrs. O. E. Ritland was the accompanist.
The floral offerings were lavish and very beautiful. She was laid to rest in her white confirmation dress.
The pall bearers were the eight boys in her confirmation class Dwight Baumgardner, La Verne Osmundson, Alvin Johnson, Erling Bakke, Curtis Severson, Iver Knudson, Ronald Haudeland and John DeLoss Caltvedt. Marching with the pall bearers were also two of the girls confirmed with Maxine: Macella Egenes and Geneva Hauskins. The church was taxed to capacity by a host of sympathetic relatives and friends.
A large number of relatives and friends from Ackley, Iowa Falls and other points were served both dinner and lunch in the parsonage by the Sunshine Mission society and other interested friends.
The remains were laid to rest in the Warren township cemetery.
Maxine Beatrice Mein, daughter of Jake and Wilhamena Mein, was born at Abbott, Iowa, June 28, 1924. She was baptized by Rev. H. M. Raecker in Abbott, Iowa, August 3, 1924. In October, 1927, the family came to McCallsburg in which community has since been their home. Maxine was confirmed in Bethany Evangelica Lutheran church, McCallsburg, Iowa, June 12, 1938. Some time after the middle of October she was taken ill with rheumatic fever. After staying at a hospital in Des Moines for over seven weeks, she passed away Monday morning, Dec. 19, 1938, at the age of 14 years, 5 months and 21 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Mein and two sisters Virginia and Lucille, two grandparents, her aged grandmother, Mein and grandfather, Voy and host of other relatives. He death is a shock to the whole community and the family has the deep sympathy of all.

Kotenbrink, Mrs. Clayton Knipful.
