Former Grocer Here Dies in Hospital Saturday; Services Will Be Held Wed.
R. I. Callison, 80, who has been in the grocery business in Nevada for many years, died in the Story County Hospital Saturday at 9:40 p.m. where he had been for two weeks.
He had been in failing health for several years. Both legs had been amputated in an effort to save his life.
He was born Nov. 12, 1882 near Kellogg to Robert and Nancy Callison and had lived in Nevada for 25 years.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Mable Callison; one son, Carrol, Nevada and three daughter: Mrs. Lou (Imogene) Collins, Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. George (Ruth) Bridges, Clarksville and Mrs. Juel (Dorothy) Haaland, Nevada. There are 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
One sister, Mrs. Martha Van Hoosen, Newton, also survives. His parents, two brothers and one daughter preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. Jackie Marshall officiating. Interment will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
The body will be at the Ryan Funeral home until noon Wednesday.
