"Mrs. Andrew Shold died here Saturday

Mrs. Andrew Shold died Saturday afternoon at her home in Roland. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 6, in Salem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Everett N. Nelson officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Christian sang "Abide With Me", and Mrs. Christian and Mrs. Darrel Larson sang "Den Store Hvide Flok".

Burial was in the Roland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Orlene Eggland, Harold Tjelmeland, Charles Sampson, Harlan Tjelmeland, Richard Sorem, and Stanley Sorem. A prayer service was held Tuesday evening at Larson Funeral Home in Story City.

Anna Marie Sorem, daughter of Andreas and Valjerd Sorem, was born in Etne, Bergen, Norway, on October 20, 1879, and passed away in Roland, Iowa, on September 1, 1962, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 11 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in Etne Lutheran Church, Etne, Norway. She immigrated to America in 1900. She became a member of Salem Lutheran Church in 1912, and had been an active and loyal member since, serving faithfully in Aid and Circle.

She was married to Andrew Shold on February 27, 1905. To this union were born five children, three sons and two daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Shold lived on a farm southeast of Roland until 1938, when they moved to town. Mr. Shold passed away April 5, 1950. Mrs. Shold is survived by three sons, Jeffrey of Williams, Erling and Arthur of Roland; two daughters, Veda (Mrs. Andrew Bakke) of Roland, and Martha (Mrs. Harold Coughenour) of Collins; one sister, Mrs. Henry Haaland of Etne, Norway; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. One nephew, Ole Haaland of Frost, Minn., and one niece, Thea Maahle of Des Moines, made their home with the Shold family when they came to America from Norway.

Mrs. Shold was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and three sisters."
