Sept. 24, 1963RITES SET FOR J.J. BICKELHAUPT
Funeral services for J.J. Bickelhaupt, 88, who farmed west of Story City for many years, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. from St. Paul Lutheran Church near Boone with Rev. E.M. Juergensen officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mr. Bickelhaupt died at 8 a.m. today at the Boone County Hospital where he had been taken Wednesday night when he was found with a broken ankle and in shock in his overturned car near Ledges State Park. He had left home Wednesday to call on some neighbors. Authorities were called Wednesday night when he didn't return home.
Born in Germany, he came to this country when he was six years old.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Eva Reinsch, Boone, and a niece, Emma Bickelhaupt, who has lived with him for many years.
The body will lie in state at Larson Funeral Home, Story City, until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Funeral services for Jake Bickelhaupt, Jr., were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Boone, Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1962, with the Rev. Eugene Juergensen of Ogden, in charge.
_____ Mrs. Martin Michel, Albert _____ and Mrs. Herschel Tietjen sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Just As I Am Without One Plea," accompanied by Mrs. George Mueller.
Pallbearers were Wilber Sowers, Charles Kammin, Robert Mathison, Robert Turner, Albert Ahrens and Marvin Peter. Burial was at St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery.
Jake Bickelhaupt, Jr., was born at Darmstadt, Germany, Feb. 9, 1874, and died at Boone, Iowa, Sept. 24, 1962, from complications resulting from an auto accident.
He was baptized in Germany, and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Boone.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Eva Reinsch of Boone; a niece, Miss Emma Bickelhaupt, who was his housekeeper for many years; other nieces and nephews in Iowa, Montana and Idaho, plus many friends.
