Elmer Johnson, Ames Dies Tuesday Eve.

Elmer Johnson, Ames, died Tuesday, June 12 at 10 p.m. in Mary Greeley Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past two and a half weeks. He was 76 years old.

Johnson, a former Nevada resident, was born Oct. 5, 1885, at Salina, Kans., the son of J. K. and Christena Johnson. A retired restaurant operator, he had lived in Ames for the past 27 years.

He was married to Mary Larson, Dec. 23, 1909 in Des Moines. He was a member of the Ames Christian Church where he served as a Deacon.

Johnson was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Mary, five brothers; Nels, of New Cambria, Kan.; Hans of Tescott, Kan.; Knute of Belen, N. M. and Martin and Dane [should be Dave] of Salina, Kan. Also a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services for Johnson will be held at Ryan Funeral Home Friday, June 15 at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
