Rites Held Marsh 19 at Maxwell For Hazel E. Harmon

Hazel Elizabeth, daughter of John and Anna Link Cairns was born February 1, 1903 at Climbing Hill, Iowa and departed this life at the Story County Hospital in Nevada, March 16, 1962 at the age of 59 years, 1 month and 15 days.

She lived her entire life in the Maxwell vicinity, graduating from the Maxwell High School. She attended college in Cedar Falls and later taught in the Maxwell Public School for several years.

Hazel was united in marriage to Harold Harmon at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on June 24, 1927. They lived their entire wedded life in the Maxwell Community.

Hazel and Harold were baptized and became members of the Maxwell Christian Church in April, 1928.

She took an active part in school and community life, gaining a host of friends.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, Harold, one sister, Mrs. Mabel Ozmun of Ames, one brother, George Cairns of Maxwell, several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Cairns and three infant brothers.

Services were conducted at the Maxwell Christian Church on Monday, March 19 at 2 p.m. with Rev. De Loss Marken and Rev. Robert Renner officiating. Mrs. Kathleen Minear sang "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "In the Garden" with Mrs. Madeline Summitt at the organ.

The flowers were arranged and cared for by Mrs. Gladys Peters and Mrs. Beulah Richardson.

Pallbearers were Clarence Link, W. D. Cairns, Dean Reynolds, Darrell Link, Kenton Viers and Richard Green.

Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery.
