Rites Held Feb. 22 For Jennie Dunahoo
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 22 at 2 p. m. in the Maxwell Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Jennie Dunahoo, with Rev. Stanley Farmer officiating.
Mrs. Alice Gooden, accompanied by Mrs. Ina Larson, sang two selections. Mrs. Lois Pyle, Mrs. Vera Viers and Mrs. Dorothy Allen had charge of the beautiful floral tributes.
Pallbearers were Forrest and Francis Allen, Harland Witmer, Dale Pyle, Jack Viers and Rollin Coughenour. Burial was in the Iowa Center cemetery.
Jennie Corvan, daughter of Robert and Ruth Corvan was born in the city of Armaugh, Ireland on Dec. 29, 1871, and died on Saturday morning, Feb. 20, 1960 at the age of 88 years.
About the year 1872 she came with her parents to the United States and settled at Colo where they made their home and she received her education.
Jennie was christened in the Episcopalian faith in Armaugh, Ireland, however she joined and received most of her religious training in the United Evangelical Church in Colo.
On March 6, 1865 Jennie was united in marriage with Elmer Dunahoo of Iowa Center, who preceded her in death in 1938. To this union four children were born--Mrs. Mabel Thomas of Clinton, Roy of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Ruthford of West Liberty and Lester of Maxwell.
Jennie was the eldest of a family of eight children. She is survived by one brother, George of Covina, Calif., and four sisters: Mrs. Katherine Howe of Baldwin Park, Calif.; Mrs. Ruth Fuller of Santa Monica, Calif., Mrs. Margaret George of Lauren and Mrs. Anna Dunahoo of Mason City. In addition to her own children, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive.
During the past years she had made her home with her son, Lester of Maxwell. She had been in ill health for many years.
Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were Dr. and Mrs. W. J. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Thomas and son, all of Clinton; Robert Dunahoo of Bluffton, Ind.; Marilyn Dunahoo of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Anna Dunahoo and family of Mason City and Mrs. R. E. George and family of Laurens.
