Rites Held Feb. 16 For Roy P. Cline

Funeral services for Roy P. Cline were held Tuesday afternoon, February 16. A short service was held at the Riis Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. with services following at the First Methodist Church in Slater at 2 p.m. Rev. Leo O. Bjorlie officiated at the services in the Funeral Home an Rev. Paul Harris was in charge of the services at the Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Accola sang three selections accompanied by Mrs. Paul Harris on the organ.

The floral tributes were arranged by Mrs. Edith Zimmerman and Mrs. Frank Shaeffer.

Pallbearers were Roy Crabtree, Noble Johnson, Morrill Nervig, Eldon Scott, Frank Schaeffer and Lloyd Larson. Military escort and graveside rites were conducted by Slater Post 260 of the American Legion.

Burial was in the Story County Memorial Gardens at Ames. Rev. Leo Bjorlie and Rev. Paul Harris officiated at the graveside.

Obituary

Roy P. Cline was born October 3, 1896 at Sheldahl. He died on Sunday morning, February 14, following a short illness at the age of 63 years.

The son of George and Esther Cline, he grew to manhood in the Sheldahl community. On March 5, 1920 he was married to Mable Scott of Cambridge. He is survived by his wife, Mable; two sons, Dorrell and Robert of Slater; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Severson of Huxley, Mrs. Helen Twit of Kelley and Mrs. Darlene Hines of Slater. He was preceded in death by son, Glen, who was a casualty of World War II.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Lilly Crabtree of Kelley and Mrs. Rose Dennis of Carthage, Mo.

Roy attended school in Sheldahl and later entered the armed services participating in the Mexican Border expedition and overseas duty in World War I. Upon returning from the service he spent some time in the Fitzsimons General Army Hospital at Denver as a patient.

His remaining years were spent in the vicinities of Sheldahl, Kelley and Slater. He served for many hears as Sunday School superintendent at the Kelley Congregational Church. For the past two years he has been a member of the First Methodist Church of Slater.
