E.O. OLSON RITES HELD LAST FRIDAY

Funeral services for E.O. Olson whose death occurred Tuesday afternoon of last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emma Abbott of Nevada, Iowa, were held at 1:30 o'clock Friday from the Temple Funeral home and at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Episcopal church, with the Rev. A.B. Gedye officiating.

The hymns, "Face to Face". "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" were sung by a quartette comprising Mrs. Dick Whitney, Miss Cecile Hale, E.A. Swanson and A.B. Canady. Miss Betty Spencer was the pianist.

The pallbearers were Henry H. Peper, Bert B. Buihner, O.F. Westrom, Victor Westrom, Al Dano and Fred Norman.

Interment was in the Ferguson cemetery.

Those present from a distance for the last rites were all of the children and their respective families except Milton; Mr. and Mrs. Eric Helstrom and two daughters of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bergland and son and family of Madrid, and Peter Helberg, Mrs. A.W. Frederickson and Mrs. Saunders of Odebolt, and friends from Carnarvon and Wall Lake.

Eric O. Olson was born July 30, 1850 at Alfta Heisingland, Sweden. At the time of his death on Sept. 28, 1937, he was 87 years, 1 month and 28 days.

He was united in marriage to Martha Bergland on April 19, 1879, at Des Moines. They made their home for a time in Des Moines, where Mr. Olson was employed by the street car company, then operating horse-cars. They also lived in Boone county for several years, coming to Sac county in 1900 and residing in the Carnarvon and Lake View vicinities. They lived for many years on their farm place north of Lake View, moving to town a couple of years ago. They at first shared Mrs. E.J. Brauer's home and afterward made their home with Mrs. Enzie Stotts. In May of this year they went to Nevada, where they were cared for by their daughter, Mrs. Abbott.

Mrs. Olson passed away on June 22, 1937.

Those surviving are the one daughter, Mrs. Emma Abbott of Nevada, Iowa, Milton, of Illinois, Alvin V. of Carnarvon, Iowa, Ed O. of Sac City, Iowa and Arthur R. of Adel, Iowa. Also two sisters, Mrs. Ella Helstrom and Mrs. Bertha Helstrom, both of Des Moines and by 11 grandchildren.

Mr. Olson was a kindly man, simple and sincere by nature and had the respect of all who knew him. His devotion to his aged wife was touching and beautiful. The sight of Mr. and Mrs. Olson winding their way arm and arm to church, was a fine example of the love between husband and wife that grows stronger with the passing years.
