Obituary of Mrs. A. F. Kriner

Martha A. Carter was born at Colo, Iowa, September 14, 1872. When she was quite young her mother died and from that time she lived with her grandmother Mrs. Morgan until March 16, 1892 when she was united in marriage to Andrew F. Kriner. Two sons were born to them. Mrs. Kriner's home has always been in Colo. Early in life she accepted Christ as her person Savior and has ever since lived a conscientious christian life. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, a good neighbor and a true friend. She was of a retiring nature and preferred the duties and comforts of her home to mingling in social circles. She had been in poor health for several years and for the past few weeks had grown worse and a surgical operation seemed to be the only chance for recovery. On February 9th she went to Marshalltown and entered St. Thomas hospital where on Wednesday February 17th the operation was performed which was thought at first to be successful and a complete recovery was anticipated, but Thursday night she began to fail and passed away Friday afternoon February 19, 1915. Her husband and sons were with her during the last moments of her life. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. G. H. Johnson assisted by Rev. E. H. Heverly. Interment was made in the Colo cemetery. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband and two sons Herbert C. and Lawrence G. who are both nearing manhood, her aged father and two half sisters who live in Denver, Colorado and were unable to attend the funeral, two aunts Mrs. Painter of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Martha Belt and few other distant relatives and many friends. Mr. Levi Kriner of Des Moines was the only relative from a distance who attended the funeral. Many friends in Colo and vicinity extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and sons.
