From Nevada Representative February 28, 1918 (page 3)

MRS. LAURA CHRISTENSEN (should be CHRISTENSON)

Mrs. Laura (Heers) Christensen (should be Christenson) was born of the Heers farm near Story City, Ia., Aug. 7, 1888 and died in the Story City Sanitarium, Feb. 22, 1918 at the age of 29 years, 6 months and 15 days. She was reared in this community and was untied in marriage to Ira Christensen (should be Christenson) on June 15, 1910. They made their first home together in Minn., South Dakota, but not feeling satisfied to be so far away from the parental home, came back and settled on a farm near Story City where they have lived until the present time. Two dear little children came to bless their home, Paul aged four years and Marjorie aged four months. Besides a loving husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss her fond parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Heers, three sisters Mrs. Roy Baldus, Mabel and Mamie Heers, and three brothers Dr. Wallace Heers of Atlantic, Iowa and Harry and Ray Heers of Story City, also a host of relatives and friends. From her childhood years she had been a rather poor health which finally culminated in a serious operation from which she never recovered. Her suffering had broadened her mind and heart so that any one that had similar troubles or otherwise, had her deepest sympathy and never was she happier than when she could by word or deed lift their burdens. She joined the Evangelical church during Rev. Langs pastorate but her faith date from early childhood through a Christian mother's teaching. As a wife and mother she was unsurpassed in her loyalty and devotion. As a daughter and sister she was the most beloved. Nothing was too much or too little for her to do to make the lives of her nearest happy. The funeral was held from the Grace church Tuesday, Rev. Wendell officiating. The choir rendered two beautiful selections and Mrs. Oran O'Keefe sang "Perfect Day." The floral contributions were many and beautiful. The host of relatives and friends who met at the funeral shows the esteem in which the departed was held by all who knew her. Those from a distance who came to attend the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Burney of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Irwin, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson and daughter Vera of Ankeny; Mr. and Mrs. Gossett of Napier; Mr. and Mrs. Potter, Mrs. Adams and daughter Caroline of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Cameron of Boone; Mr. and Mrs. Wold, Mr. and Mrs. Ripkey, Mr. and Mrs. Harl Mangus and Mrs. Will Mangus of Gilbert.
