Wier Tobia Wierson was born on a farm just west of Roland January 4, 1862, and died at his home here April 27, 1939, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 23 days. He was a son of the late Ole and Valjer Wierson.
He was baptized and confirmed in Bergen Lutheran church by Rev. Amlund and continued to be an active member of that congregation during his whole life. He served the congregation as secretary for about 25 years and subsequently served as an elder.
On March 8, 1883, he was united in marriage to Maria Tunis, who survives him. To this union were born five sons and one daughter, all of whom are living. They are, Martin, [Olga] Walnetta (Mrs. J. B. Three brothers have preceded him in death.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Wierson started farming and lived most of the time on a farm three miles east and a half mile north of Roland, in the west edge of Warren township. During his many years on the farm there Mr. Wierson took active part in the affairs of his community holding various offices in both township and school district, as well as in other organizations. He was a vice president of the Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Association for several years. In 1921 the couple retired from active farm life and moved to the residence in Roland, which was the former home of Mr. Wierson's parents after they had moved to town from the farm a number of years earlier.
The couple observed their golden wedding with a festival gathering in the Bergen church parish house on Sunday, March 11, 1933, at which time all the children with their families were present.
