Funeral Services Held at Iowa Center for Mrs. Albert Spurling

Special to the Journal:
Iowa Center, April 20--The church in this pioneer inland Story county village, was filled to capacity Wednesday afternoon for the funeral services of Mrs. Albert Spurling, which were conducted by Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada, followed by burial in Evergreen cemetery nearby.

The following sketch of the life of deceased was read during the service.

Flora Florence Jones, daughter of Robert and Nancy Jones born Aug. 15, 1862, in Polk county, Iowa passed away April 16, 1939 at her home in Iowa Center, Iowa.

Reared in the Christian faith she joined with the Evangelical church of Iowa Center in 1927.

She was one of a family of 8 children, 3 brothers Ross, Scott and Eugene, and four sisters, Belle Clara, Alvira and Minta. Two sisters and 3 brothers survive and several nieces and nephews.

She was first united in marriage to Wm. Haltern [should be Halterman] and five children were born to this union Arthur, Chris, Robert, Nellie and William. Arthur preceded his mother in death Nov. 17, 1909. The husband Wm. Haltern [should be Halterman], passed away Nov. 11, 1928.

She was married to Albert Spurling, Aug. 13, 1930, who survives.

She leaves many sorrowing friends, neighbors and relatives who will miss her kind ways and good deeds. She was never too busy to help a needy one, cheerful, patient and loving to the end. Her consolation to her sorrowing husband and children was always "don't worry I will be all right when the sun shines again."
