Funeral Services Held For Clark Chambers At Collins Methodist Church

COLLINS -- Funeral services for the late Clark Chambers were held in the Collin Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Sept. 7, 1952 at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Louis H. Joslin, pastor of the local church officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. C. R. Stone, pianist.

The many beautiful floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Harley Meyers of Maxwell and Mrs. Donald Titus.

Casket bearers were: Harley Meyers of Maxwell, William Carver of Nevada, C. R. Stone, Laurence Dodd, Dewey Kern and Donald Titus.

Graveside services at the Collins Evergreen cemetery were in charge of the Fervent Lodge No. 513, A. F. and A. M., the Masonic ritualistic ceremony being read by A. M. Christy of Maxwell.

Obituary

Clark Chambers was born in Cerro Gordo county, Illinois November 15, 1873 and passed away at the home of his daughter in Los Angeles, Calif., Sept. 3, 1952, at the age of 78 years, nine months and 19 days. He came to Collins when a young man, where on February 15, 1902, he entered business.

On May 21, 1902, he was united in marriage Mary Wood of Collins. To them were born three daughters and five sons. Mr. Chambers continued in business in Collins until August 1943. A year later he went to California, where he made his home since that time.

On August 26, 1952, he was presented with a fifty-year certificate of membership in the Masonic lodge.

Mrs. Chambers preceded him in death, April 20, 1939.

During the more than forty years he was in business in Collins, Mr. Chambers could always be depended upon for liberal support of any community enterprise of activity. He gained a well-earned reputation for fair dealing and came to the assistance of many in their time of need. "Clark," as he was called by the young and old, was a kind husband and father, a true friend and a good citizen.

He is survived by seven children: Irene Swenson, Betty Loy and James Dwight of Los Angeles, Lawrence of Ankeny, Eugene of Newton, Marjorie Heintz and Gerald of Collins; and six grandchildren: Danny See, Dennis Clark and Barry Joe Loy of Los Angeles, Lois Chambers of Ankeny and Larry and Janice Heintz of Collins.
