Final Rites Held Here Friday for Nevada Township Man
Funeral services for Ivan Ayers, 67, who died at his home southeast of Nevada Tuesday evening, were held at Bishop Funeral home Friday afternoon and burial was in Evergreen cemetery at Iowa Center. Rev. C. E. Lookingbill was in charge of the services with Mrs. Glen Hubbard at the piano and Floyd Alderman and Mrs. Florence Rapp singers.
Ivan Ayers, eldest son of William and Rachael Ayers was born November 10, 1871 in Richland County, Bloom City, Wisconsin. At the age of one year he came to Iowa with his parents and they settled in Story County near Nevada.
He was united in marriage to Gertie Ayers January 18, 1892. To this union was born four children, William Henry, who died in infancy; Harvey of Long Beach, California; Clyde of Nevada; and Mae, now Mrs. Lyle Kopf, of near Nevada.
He departed this life Tuesday evening, at 11:15 p. m. at his home southeast of Nevada at the age of 67 years, five months and eight days. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, three children and five grandchildren as well as other relatives and a hold of friends.
