Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Mrs. Regina Ostrem

Roland, March 20 -- Funeral services for the late Mrs. Regina Ostrem of Jewell, former resident of near Roland, who passed away at the Jewell hospital on Monday morning were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran Church at Jewell with Rev. M. E. Nesse in charge assisted by the Rev. Olaf Holen of Roland. Burial was made in the Roland cemetery beside her husband who passed away twenty-eight years ago.

Mrs. Ostrem, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sevold was born on a farm northwest of Roland on March 18, 1870 and would have been seventy-eight years old on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Ostrem lived on their farm north of Roland for many years and were members of the Salem congregation. Several years after the death of her husband she moved to Story City and later moved to Jewell.

Approximately two month ago she fell and broke her hip and was for sometime a patient at the Mary Greeley hospital at Ames and later taken to the hospital at Jewell.

She is survived by two sons Alfred and Gerhard Ostrem and one daughter Miss Edith Ostrem all of Jewell. Her husband and a son Selmer preceded her in death.

Among those from a distance present at the funeral were Mrs. Isabelle Olson, Fred Wilson, Magnus Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Swanson, Mrs. Lars Halverson, Orville Twedt, Tom H. Wicks, Amos Twedt, Mrs. Henry Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Halverson, Amos Cole, Mrs. Iver Gjerde of Roland, Mrs. Lars Wicks of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Christianson, Mrs. Carl Miller and Mrs. Mabel Knutson of Ames.
