Last Rites for Mrs. Ransom Cooper Held Wednesday

Collins, Oct. 27 -- Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Collins Church of Christ for the late Mrs. Ransom Cooper who died Sunday afternoon at Mercy hospital Des Moines. She had been at the hospital for about two weeks, but had been ill for a long time and cared for in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray Ridgeway, south east of Collins.
Services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. Stevens of Washington assisted by the Rev. Henry Esch, pastor of the local church.
Two solo, "In the Garden" and "Life's Railway to Heaven" were sung by Mrs. Vance Stead accompanied by Mrs. C. R. Stone. The floral offering were cared for by granddaughters of the deceased, Mrs. Glen Pyle, Mrs. Pete Cummings, Mrs. Dale Huffaker. Pallbearers, sons-in-law of Mrs. Cooper, were Lewis Stinson, Clyde Oxley, Richard Olson, Ed Barney, Walter Brown and Roy Ridgeway. Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery.
Alice May Kline was born near Clyde, in northwest Jasper Co., Dec. 24, 1860, and passed away at Mercy hospital Des Moines, Oct. 19, 1947, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 25 days.
She grew to womanhood near Clyde and was united with the Peoria Methodist church in her early youth. She was married to Ransom Cooper, Dec. 11, 1880 and they continued to make their home in the vicinity of Clyde until 1919, when they moved to Siren, Wis. When failing health rendered them unable to keep their own home they came to the home of their daughter, Mrs. Roy Ridgeway. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper the parents of twelve children, two of them dying in infancy.
With the father, the following survive: Mrs. Vera Huffaker, Mrs. Clyde Oxley of Maxwell; Roy, Ira, Mrs. Richard Olson, Mrs. Ed Barney all of Siren, Wis.; Mrs. Lewis Stinson of Des Moines; Byron of Waterloo; Mrs. Walter Brown, Mrs. Ray Ridgeway of Collins. There are 33 grandchildren and forty great grandchildren. Two half-brothers, Frank and Commodore Kline, of Des Moines also survive.
Mrs. Cooper's ten children all attended the same school she had as a girl, and another unusual circumstance was the celebration of their 66th wedding anniversary Dec. 11, 1946 at the Ridgeway home.
