Funeral Services Held Friday for Mrs. Julia Lund
Story City, Oct. 27 -- Funeral services were held in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City Friday afternoon, following a prayer service in her home for Mrs. Julia Lund, 80, who died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on Tuesday, Oct. 14, where she had been a patient for two weeks. The Rev. T. T. Heimarck officiated and the Rev. L. A. Mathre of Lodi, Wis., and Pastor Odean Monson of St. Paul's Lutheran Church west of Story City spoke briefly at the church.
Special music was furnished by Mrs. L. B. Lund, who sang "Den Store Hvide Flok," and Mrs. Orlin Anderson of Stanhope who rendered "The Lord's Prayer." Burial was in the Story City cemetery
Serving as casket bearers were: John, Charlie and Erick Hove, Gudmon Olson, Lewis Anderson and Swen Swenson. A total of $112.00 in memorial gifts was given in memory of the deceased.
Besides the Rev. and Mrs. Mathre from Wisconsin, those from out to state who attended the funeral were: Albert Marvick of Chugwater, Wyo., and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Ritchie of Minneapolis, Minn.
Born in Kendall County, Illinois, Mrs. Lund lived for many years on a farm near Jewell and moved to Story City 17 years ago. Her husband passed away in 1917. She had been a member of the Sunset Home the past two years.
She is survived by the following children: Lewis and Irvin, both of Jewell, Mrs. Harry O. Scott of Des Moines, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Rex Ritchie of Minneapolis, Minn. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Alice Lund of Story City, and a brother, Martin Mathre of Denver, Colo.
