Last Rites Friday For Nels O. Ihle In Slater

Slater, Oct. 17 -- Funeral services for Nels O. Ihle were held Friday afternoon, 1:30 o'clock at the home and 2 o'clock at the Bethlehem Lutheran church. Rev. P. E. Onstad had charge of the services. Rev. Lewis Malmin gave a brief talk in behalf of the family.

The many beautiful floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. Kermit Erickson and Mrs. Art Lewis.

A large number of gifts of money to mission work were presented by relatives and friends.

Rev. Malmin sang a solo, "Tomorrow May Be Goodbye." Rev. P. E. Onstad sang a Norwegian solo, "Den Store Hvide Flok." Mrs. Edward Haroldson of Linn Grove, sand a solo, "The Lord's Prayer."

The pall bearers were: Elmer and Amos Hauge of Superior, Joe Ihle of Ames, Amos Ihle, Amund Ihle and Cyrus Ihle. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.

Nels O. Ihle was born Sept. 30, 1876 at Ilsvaag, Norway and died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, Oct. 6, 1947 at the age of 71 years, and 6 days. His parents were Amund and Martha Ihle. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. The family came to America in 1893 an live on a farm near Slater.

His marriage to Miss Nella Carlson, of Dolliver, took place Oct. 10, 1914. Four children blessed their home. Mr. Ihle took an active part in the work of the church and served in various church offices. He also took part in the community affairs and was a prominent farmer.

His health began to fail about a year ago. Everything that skill and loving care could do was done for him. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife and four sons, Kenneth, Mervin, Otis and Nilus and six grandchildren all of Slater, also two sisters, Mrs. Josie Hauge of Superior, Iowa, and Mrs. Ole Thorsness of Slater, four brothers, Owen Ihle of Emmetsburg, Nels Ihle, John Ihle and Eric Ihle of Slater and a large number of relatives and friends.

Carlson, Lewis Heggne, Mrs. Lodden, Mrs. Oscar Mathre of Estherville, Mrs. Josie Hauge, Amos Hauge, Elmer and Thorbein Hauge of Superior, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Ihle of Emmetsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Sulvin Bakken and Sheila Mae of Northwood; Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Moore of Ventura, Mrs. Klaus Tangeros of Chicago, Ill., T/4 Selmer Malmin of Fort Riley, Kansas, Rev. and Mrs. Sanford Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Flukstad, Miss Mabel Lein and Miss Anna Lein of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Haroldson of Linn Grove, Iowa, Mrs. Bertha Gandrup, Mrs. Berton Gandrup, Mrs. Julius Knutson, Mrs. Anna Nerem, Mrs. John Heggen and Miss Stine Heggen, all from Story City, Leif Malmin, Mrs. Merlin Kirkwoood, Dr. and Mrs. F. F. Peel and Miss Dorothy Sheldahl of Des Moines and Chloris Jean Carlson of Bondurant.
