OBITUARY OF MRS. J. R. DENSMORE

Mary Lusetta Applegate was born in Bureau county, Ill., April 4, 1854. When she was only about a year old her family came to Iowa and made their home on the farm which in now known as the old Applegate place, located two moles southwest of Nevada. Here she passed her girlhood until her marriage to John R. Densmore which took place March 11, 1875. These young people set up their home in the Mullen settlement until they moved to town about seventeen years ago. Mrs. Densmore died in September, 1915. Since that time Mrs. Densmore's residence has been in Nevada, but she has been away much of the time in more congenial climate seeking for relief from asthmatic trouble and during the past years has spent the winter seasons in California, Arizona or Oklahoma. The past winter was spent in Ontario, Calif., with her granddaughter, Mrs. Vera Galbreath. On Saturday evening, April 30, there came one of her attacks and soon she had slipped away, being just past 67 years of age. Brief funeral services were held at Ontario on last Tuesday conducted by Rev. G. W. Irwin, and the body was then brought back to Iowa for burial. Services here were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church by Rev. R. M. Shipman, and the body was carried to the Nevada cemetery and there laid beside her husband.

There are two daughters of this family, Mrs. John Galbreath of Nevada, and Mrs. J. W. Kopf of south east of town. Three of Mrs. Densmore's brothers are living an one sister, and there are ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, also many other relatives, an a large acquaintance of friends.

About thirty-five years ago Mrs. Densmore was convert an at that time united with the Summit United Evangelical church. Upon removal to Nevada she was first a member of the Presbyterian church but later with her husband united with the Methodist church.
