RICHLAND PIONEER CALLED BY DEATH

GEORGE BRYANT HAD LIVED NEAR OR IN NEVADA FOR 75 YEARS

George Bryant, who for 75 of the over 79 years of his life had lived in or within a few miles of Nevada, died at the home of his only son, James W. Bryant, last evening from pneumonia following a paralytic stroke.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at Memorial Lutheran church, with Dr. Simon in charge and interment will be in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery by the side of his wife Margaret who died 12 years ago in October.

Mr. Bryant, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bryant, was born in McClain county, Ill., March 20, 1852 and came to Story county with his people when a lad of four years and they settled on a farm in southeast Richland township.

He was raised in the neighborhood and was married in 1887 to Miss Margaret See. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant left the farm in 1905 and came to Nevada and it was at their home in the north part of the city that she died in October of 1919.

Following the death of his wife he had made his home the most of the time with his only son, James W. Bryant and wife on the family homestead five miles north of Nevada.

Of the four brothers and two daughter in the Charles Bryant family, the only one now living is Joshua Bryant, who has his home in Nevada.

George Bryant was a man of industry, honesty an integrity and leaves a wide circle of friends to mourn the death of one of real pioneers of the community.
