NEVADA WOMAN DIED LAST NIGHT

MRS. C. E. BATES PASSED AWAY VERY SUDDENLY AT HOME

Mrs. Clarence E. Bates, 35, died very suddenly at 10:00 Thursday night, at her home, 1419 Third street, from heart complications.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at the Bishop Funeral home, after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery. Her pastor, Rev. Geo. A. Lawton will be in charge of the funeral.

Mrs. Bates whose maiden name was Gladys Lorraine Birney, was born near Webster City, February 15, 1897. Later the family moved to Story county and lived west of the city in Grant township. She attended the Nevada schools and graduated with the class of 1914, after which she taught school for a time.

She was a member of the Methodist church and was united in marriage to Clarence E. Bates, December 10, 1919.

She leaves besides her husband, two sons, Homer aged 9, Marion age 3 years. She also leaves here mother, Mrs. Sarah Birney; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Rigdon of Newkirk, Okla., Mrs. Iva Young of Arkansas City, Kans., and Mrs. Ruth Lund of Markel, Ind.; and two brothers, Oscar W. Birney of Ortley, S. D., and Russel E. Birney of Ames.

Mr. and Mrs. Bates had lived in Nevada since their marriage and she has many friends who will join with the husband and other relatives in mourning her death.
