Held Funeral Service on Thursday for Late L. C. Allen

Special to the Journal:
Zearing, Nov. 26--Funeral rites were held at the Church of Christ in Zearing Thursday afternoon for L. C. Allen, who died at the home of his son, Lyle C. Allen at Hampton, after a lingering illness caused by cancer.

Mr. Allen was born January 20, 1879 at Bladenburg, Iowa and died at the age of 58. At the age of four years, he moved to Zearing where he grew to manhood. He was engaged as a school teacher for three years. He was united in marriage to Miss Ina L. Higgason of Zearing Sept. 16, 1903.

He went into the hardware business with his father, who was with him several years. After that he moved to Marriell, Minn., and engaged in the hardware business. In later years, he moved to Hampton, where he engaged in farming and lived until his death.

He was a member of the Church of Christ and the I.O.O.F. lodge. The deceased in survived by his widow, Mrs. L. C. Allen, five sons, W. B. of Worthington, Arlo E., Milo R., Dale C. and Lyle C. of Hampton; three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Alexander of Ames, Mrs. Vernon Hines of Hubbard and one brother, Will Allen of Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church at Zearing conducted by Rev. C. S. Kleckner, pastor of the Church of Christ of Hampton. The body was laid to rest in the Zearing cemetery. Pall bearers were Bert Long, Clarence Huntington, Henry Wolf, Fred Fields, Guy Boot and Giddon Marken.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dinsmore, Mrs. Ethel Rhoads, Mrs. Frances Rhwails, Mrs. Nell Aldredge from Fernald, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hoover, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Allen of Marshalltown.
