OBITUARY
Fred Hale, 91, of Rhodes, died Friday morning at Marshalltown Area Community Hospital, where he had been hospitalized for a week.
Born Oct. 14, 1891, in Story County, he was the (adopted) son of Aaron and Mary (Sullen) Hale. (Born to John & Maggie Shearer of Iowa Center, IA) He received his education in Story County schools. On July 1, 1914, he was married to Maud Richmond in Marshalltown and they had always made their home in Rhodes.
Mr. Hale was preceded in death by one brother and a grandson. He is survived by his widow and one son James Hale, both of Rhodes, and one daughter, Kathleen (Mrs. Joe) Malechek of Marshalltown. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held at the Rhodes United Methodist Church at 1 P.M. Tuesday with the Rev. Frank Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in the Eden Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wensel-Perrin Funeral Home, State Center, after 6 P.M. Sunday and after 4 P.M. Monday.
