Mrs. Hale, 63, Of Rhodes Dies

Dollie (Mrs. James) Hale, 63, of Rhodes, died there Sunday evening. Services will be held Thursday at 11 A.M. from the Rhodes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Scholtz officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery, Rhodes. A memorial fund has been established.

Born Sept. 15, 1916, in Waukon, she was married to James hale on July 19, 1937 in Rhodes and he survives.

Also surviving are a son and three daughters, Jerry Hale, Norfolk, Va., Jean Pfantz, State Center, Joan Cardani, Boone, and Vicki Schuler, Melbourne, seven grand- children, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Hale was raised and educated in Maynard, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Hale lived in Waterloo for three years following their marriage and moved to Rhodes in 1940. She was employed as a machinist by the Ruben Donnelly Co., in Nevada for 20 years and worked with the Health Aide service in Story County.

Mrs. Hale was a member of the Rhodes United Methodist Church. Friends may call at Ryan-Davis Funeral Home in Melbourne."

My mother was born Hall in Waukon, Iowa and was placed into a foster home at Toledo, IA in 1923.

She then lived with the Stewart family of Maynard, IA where she went to high school. She graduated from high school on May 17, 1935 and then went to college for two years at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, IA (now the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). She is buried at Rhodes Iowa in the Eden Cemetery east of the town.

She met my father in Waterloo, IA where they were both working at the Russel Lamson Hotel.

She died at home in Rhodes, Iowa of heart failure.
