Funeral Services For Aged Slater Resident Wednesday

Slater, February 25: Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Olson, 91, of Story City were held Wednesday afternoon, 1:30 o'clock at the Riis Funeral Home and 2 o'clock at the Bethlehem Lutheran church in Slater. Rev. P. E. Onstad had charge of the services.

Beautiful floral offerings and gifts of money to the Missions and to the Sunset Home at Story City were presented by relatives and friends.

Rev. P. E. Onstad sang two solos, a Norwegian song, "Tank Naar Engang," and "I'm But A Stranger Here." The audience sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul."

The pall bearers were J. C. Ersland, W. O. Houge, A. A. Chader, Chas. Skortman, Harry and Orel Sheldahl. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.

Mrs. Olson was born in Illinois in 1855 and came to Story County when three years old. Her marriage to Ole R. Olson took place in 1877*.

Eight children were born to this union, five of whom died in infancy. Three of the boys grew to manhood, Lewis, Randall, and Tilden, the latter now the only one surviving. Mrs. Olson's husband died several years ago.

Last November Mrs. Olson entered the Sunset Home at Story City and lived there until her death. She was ill for a week from a fall which injured her hip. At the time of her death she was 91 years, 5 months and 4 days. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.

She is survived by one son, Tilden Olson of Slater, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ole Lee of Albert Lea, Minn., and three grandchildren, Rodney and Archie Olson and Mrs. Eugene Wright of Albert Lea, Minn., and many relatives and friends.

Among the relatives who attended the funeral services were: Mrs. Ole Lee, Mrs. Eugene Wright, Rodney and Archie Olson of Albert Lea, Minn., Mrs. Mons Teig of Ellsworth, Mrs. W. H. Ogle and daughter, Ruth Rhoad of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hovick, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hovick, Mrs. G. Amlund, Mr. and Mrs. John Hovick, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Hovick, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hovick, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Oleson, Mrs. Andrew Mickelson, Mr. and Mrs. T. Knutson, Herman Hovick, Mrs. Everett Reinertson, Mr. and Mrs. Tjernagle, all from Story City and Randall.
