DOROTHY SMITH, FORMER MILFORD GIRL, MET TRAGIC DEATH

Definite funeral arrangements have not been announced for Miss Dorothy Smith, 25, former Milford township girl, who lost her life in a motor car accident at Randolph and Wabash, in the Chicago loop district Saturday morning.

Miss Smith was riding with a Mr. Tracy, when the car skidded into one of the upright elevated supports. Miss Smith was killed instantly and Mr. Tracy was seriously injured and is in a Chicago hospital.

An inquest for Miss Smith was held Saturday, according to word received by Mrs. Velda Ringheim of this city, close friend of the family.

Miss Smith was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Milford township. She left here with her mother Mrs. Carrie Smith and other members of the family about 6 years ago after the mother had terminated her work as superintendent of the Milford schools. The mother taught in East Des Moines high for two years, after which they moved to Chicago.

Miss Dorothy was a graduate of the Ames high school and had attended Purdue University, where her uncle, Will Smith, is an instructor.

More recently she had been in Chicago where she held a responsible position with a life insurance concern, while her mother is employed at Carson-Pierrie-Scott company store.

She leaves her mother Mrs. Carrie Smith of Chicago, her father Fred Smith of Los Angeles, Calif., sister Marian, now Mrs. A. J. Mikelson, and brothers Fredrick and Billy, now farming down in Washington county, Iowa.
