Funeral Services for Mrs. Robison

Special to the Journal.
Gilbert, Feb. 22--Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Robinson, who died at Santa Ana, Calif., February 14, were held Saturday afternoon at the Congregational church here, after which interment was in the Gilbert cemetery.

Elsie Barr Robinson, daughter of Andrew J. and Catherine E. Barr, was born Aug. 29, 1854, on the old Barr homestead near Waynesville, Ill. Soon after that her parents took up a homestead near Blue Earth, Minn., where she grew to womanhood and was a public teacher in Minnesota. She was married to Horace Robinson in July 1876, who preceded her in death, Jan. 29, 1913.

The first years of their married life were spent on a farm near Ames and in October 1889 moved to Gilbert which has been her home ever since until November 1930 when she went to California to visit her daughter Maude Robinson, and remained there until her death Feb. 14, 1932.

She suffered a stroked of paralysis Feb. 1, from which she recovered consciousness and the use of her voice but very little use of her body.

She was secure in the Christian faith for a life time. She was a member of the Gilbert Congregational church and an active member of the missionary society. Her own hardships made her sympathetic to others.

During her earlier years in Gilbert she was principal aid at many a neighbor's home during various illnesses. She lived to see most of her friends precede her in death.

She leaves six children, Mrs. Nellies Shepard, Gilbert; Mrs. Hallie Michaelson, Marshalltown; Mrs. Eva Templeton, Des Moines; Ben Robinson of Carroll; J. G. Robinson and Maude Robinson of Santa Ana, Calif. A daughter Blanche and infant son, preceded her in death.

A sister, Mrs. Mattie Meeks of Webster City and brother John T. Barr of Lehigh and nine grandchildren also survive her.
