Funeral Services for Huxley Man

Huxley, Oct. 27--Funeral services for Johannes Johnson, 36, were held at Huxley on Thursday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Larson Funeral home. Services were in charge of Dr. J. N. Andersen pastor of the Fjeldberg church who spoke in the English language using John 3:16 "For God so loved the work, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" as his text. Two solos "Abide with me" and "In the Garden" were sung by Mrs. L. S. Kloster of Des Moines. Mr. Johnson was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Johnson (Birkestand0 both of whom have preceded him in death. He was born near Cambridge, Ia., where the family lived on a farm. Many years ago they moved to near Crookston, Nebr. He was a soldier stationed at Camp Dodge during the war and was taken sick with the flu, but after a time he recovered. About three years ago he was taken to the Veterans hospital at St. Cloud, Minn., a sufferer of tuberculosis and there he passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21.

His brother Rasmus Johnson brought the remains here. The casket was draped with a large American flag. Pall bearers were L. S. Kloster of Des Moines, Andrew Ritland, Albert, Wier and Harold Birkestrand and Peter Hulderson. Interment was in the Fjeldberg cemetery, where his parents and a brother also ahve been laid to rest. The deceased was a cousin of Henry Birkestrand and others here.
