John Signs Died at His Home in Collins Today
Special to the Journal.
Collins, Oct 30--John W. Signs, 69, died at 8:00 a. m. today at his home in Collins after a lingering illness during which time he had suffered from heart afflictions.Mr. Signs, one of the pioneers of this community, was born in Jasper county, south of here, February 24, 1864, an had lived in this community al of his life, moving into Collins about thirty years ago and since that he had been engaged in various lines of business.
He was united in marriage to Miss Etta Wyley, September 5, 1888, and to them two daughters were born, Maude is death and Clara has continued to live at home and is a teacher in the Collins schools. The wife died March 28, 1932. He leaves besides the one daughter, a brother, Chas. Signs, of Collins.
Mr. Signs had long been a member of the Masonic order and he will be buried under the ritualistic ceremonies of that order. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the Church of Christ in Collins and interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
