WALTER GEAR DIED HERE LAST NIGHT

LONG TIME INVALID PASSED AWAY AT MIDNIGHT AS RESULT OF STROKE

Walter J. Gear, 52, died at his home 1024 N avenue at midnight, following an invalidism of many years, death resulting from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy suffered Sunday.

Funeral services will be held Friday. There will be a prayer service at the home at 1:30 and the funeral will be held at Memorial Lutheran church at 2:00, followed by interment in the Nevada cemetery. The services will be in charge of his pastor, Dr. J. O. Simon, pastor of Memorial Lutheran church.

Mr. Gear, born in Nevada, April 15, 1881, was aged 52 years, 5 months and 13 days.

He leaves besides his wife, the one son Lloyd Gear, a daughter-in-law and grandchild, besides one brother and one sister.

Born and raised in Nevada he lived around here until his marriage 31 years ago on March 4, to Miss Winnie Stenson of the Slater neighborhood.

Shortly after their marriage they located on a farm two miles west of Nevada and there they lived and prospered, until Mr. Gear was injured in a runaway about 22 years ago. While they continued to live upon the farm for some time his invalidism became more pronounced until he was finally incapacitated entirely from work of that nature and they moved into Nevada.

From that time on his efforts had been confined to such activities as he was able to accomplish in assisting his wife in carrying on in the home.

A man, large in stature and even larger of heart, Walter Gear had many warm friends among his acquaintances and he will be remembered, as the friends and old time neighbors extend sympathy to the wife, son and other members of the sorrowing family.
