Funeral Services for Mrs. Roy Davis

Special to the Journal.
Maxwell, Sept. 27--Funeral services for Mrs. Roy Davis were held at the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by the pastor Rev. B. H. Guthrie who was assisted by Rev. Underwood, pastor of the Christian church. The Music included three songs by a double quartette composed of Ross Olinger, Dale John, James Olinger, Paul Olinger, Clark John, Gurton Nelson who sang "In the Garden," "Going Down the Valley" and "Sleep on Beloved." Mrs. T. C. Couch was at the piano. The pall bearers were Joe Aldridge, Roy Bell, Douglas Davis, Loren Davis, Harry Gibson and Howard Couch.

Mable Ann Davis daughter of Jane and Albert Beach was born January 21, 1891, in Hardin county near Hubbard, and passed away Sept. 23, 1933 in the Lutheran hospital, Des Moines.

At the age of two years her parents moved to the farm which is now her home. Here she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Roy Davis in a double wedding with her only sister sister, Mrs. Verne Randol on Feb. 11, 1914. One daughter, Jean Frances was born to this union. Other surviving members of her family are Her husband, her mother Mrs. Jane Beach, one sister Mrs. Verne Randol besides other friends and relatives.

Mrs. Davis united with the Presbyterian church of Maxwell on October 13, 1916. She was one who loved her home and made of it a place of wholesome living and enjoyable contentment. In the home circle the sorrowing husband will miss his kind and loving companion, and the daughter the watchful and tender care of her patient, kind and affectionate mother.

The large attendance and the beautiful floral offerings, testified to the esteem in which Mrs. Davis was held in this community. Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the services were: Mrs. Alice Beach, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Beach and daughter Mildred, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Beach of Zearing; Mr. and Mrs. John Ayers, Mr. and Mrs. Will Mathews, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Matters, Beryl Mathews, Mrs. Hattie Daley, Mr. and Mrs. Nane Baker and family of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Whitney and family of Cambridge; Dale Evans of Elkhart; Jean Davis sophomore class of Collins and their sponsor Sig Jesperson; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schuey of Mingo; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Judd an Mrs. Lizzie Flickinger of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bloomfield and Roy Osting of Ames.
