THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, November 9, 1961, page 3, column 3. "ALICE V. WOOD - Alice, daughter of James and Hannah Dunlap Hall, was born at the family farm home just east of Maxwell on February 18, 1869. She attended the local schools during her childhood and later a Normal Training School in Nevada. On March 3, 1891, she and Harvey A. Wood and her sister, Mary and Fred Carpenter were married in a double wedding ceremony performed at the farm home of the bride's parents. Surviving children are Ernest L. Wood of Maxwell and Mrs. Jim (Leona) Stone of Nevada. An older son, Sidney preceded her in death, as did her husband. Other survivors include, Mrs. Sidney Wood, and sons, Adrian, Glen and Harvey of Sacramento, California; four other grandson**, Jimmy, Paul and Robert Stone of Nevada and William Stone of Marshalltown, Iowa. Also, nineteen great grandchildren and her sister, Mary Carpenter of Seattle, Washington. She was a resident of Story County her entire lifetime with the exception of five years she, her husband and children resided on a farm near Carter, Oklahoma. She was a long time member of the Maxwell Christian Church and maintained an interest in its activities as long as she lived. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 1, at 2 p. m., in the Cooper Funeral Home, with Rev. DeLoss Marken of Des Moines, officiating. Mrs. Ina Larsen furnished the organ music. The lovely floral tributes were in charge of Mrs. Leota Scott and Mrs. Jennie Kirk. The Casket bearers were Dale, Arnold and Emmett Scott, Donald Woolhether, Arthur Fish and Robert Kirk. Interment was in the Maxwell Cemetery." **Editorial note - spelling used is from the original newspaper article.
