THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 16, 1965, page 1, column 4. "MRS. VIOLA WITMER - Viola Susie Witmer, daughter of George and Kristina Link was born in Polk County on the present Clarence Link farm on November, 11, 1888, and passed away at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Friday evening at 9:45 o'clock, February 12, 1965. She lived in Washington township most of her life. She was united in marriage to Archie Witmer, March 25, 1909, in Des Moines and to this union were born three children, Carroll, Harriett and Marold. She has been associated with the Loring Evangelical United Brethren Church through a great number of years, being a member of it's Mission Band w hen a girl, and having been a member of the Women's Society of World Service for many years. Upon her passing she leaves her husband, Archie, of rural Maxwell; a son Carroll Witmer of Farmington, Iowa and her daughter, Mrs. Richard Green and another son, Marold Witmer both of rural Maxwell; four grandchildren, Dale Green, Robert Witmer, Judy and Stephen Witmer; a sister Mrs. Katherine Miller of Grimes and a brother Leonard Link of Maxwell. Six brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 16th at 1:30 p. m. at the Loring Evangelical United Brethren Church, with Rev. Wm. H. McKinley officiating. Mrs. Caple furnished the organ music. The floral arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Betty Enfield and Mrs. ____ Tomlinson. The casket bearers were nephews, namely Virgil and Raymond Miller, Marion, Dale and Darrell Link and George Cairns. Interment was in the Maxwell Cemetery."
