CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIED HERE TODAY

PATIENT AT IOWA SANITARIUM SINCE 1927--WIFE DIED HERE IN '29

Charles W. Derickson, 93, Co. B. 23d Ia. Inf., Civil war veteran who has made his home at Iowa sanitarium, here since 1927, died at that institution this morning.

While definite funeral arrangements are dependent upon the arrival of the son who has wired his intentions to be here, it is possible that the services will be held Sunday and interment will be in the Nevada cemetery, by the side of the wife, who died here in January 1929.

Mr. and Mrs. Derickson had come to Iowa sanitarium in 1927 and lived together there until the wife died in 1929 after 63 years of married life. The family hoe was for some years at Polk City, but was then transferred to Battle Creek, Mich., from which place they came to Nevada.

Mr. Derickson, a Civil war veteran served in Company B of the 23rd Iowa infantry. He enlisted Jan. 5, 1864 and was honorably discharged on July 26, 1865.

He leaves one son, Dr. Elvia Derickson of Burlington, Mich., and a daughter Mrs. Evelyn Banker of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Mr. Derikson had been failing since last fall and has been under the constant care of a special nurse. He was born in Illinois, Dec. 18, 1845.
