LONGTIME COLO MERCHANT DEAD
CHARLES SHEPHERD DIED AT HIS HOME, FUNERAL SERVICES WEDNESDAY
Special to the Journal.
Colo, June 17--Charles R. Shepherd, 75, for over 46 years engaged in the mercantile business in Colo, died at his home here at 1:00 p. m. Sunday, after a lingering illness. While he had been failing for quite some time, his condition had been considered critical for but a short time.Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 at the Colo Methodist church, with his former pastor, Rev. Stark of Yale in charge. Interment will be in the Colo cemetery under the auspices of the Colo I. O. O. F. lodge.
Mr. Shepherd was a native of Canada but came to the state with his parents when a small boy and grew to manhood at Youngstown, N. Y.
He came out to Iowa and located in Colo in business 45 years ago and has been here continuously with the exception of a year spent in California and another at Boulder, Colo.
He was married on November 4, 1896 to Miss Carrie Lhommedieu and to them three chilsren were born. The two daughters, Mary and Mossie preceded the father in death, but the son Roy, with the wife survives him. He also leaves a sister Mrs. Mary Brann [should be Brand] whose home is in Colo.
