THIRD TRAGIC DEATH IN SESKER FAMILY WITHIN PAST YEAR
MARTIN SESKER, 42, KILLED WHILE WALKING ON ROCK ISLAND TRACKS
Special to the Journal.
Cambridge, June 13--Martin Sesker, 42, was killed when struck by a Rock Island train, while walking the tracks here last night, the third son of the late Lars Sesker to meet tragic death since the Fourth of July.Sesker, a single man, had been at the home of his brother Roy nearby. The brothers was away looking after some farm work and how Martin came to be walking down the track is unknown.
The engineer on the approaching train, saw the man up the track and whistled, the train being slowing down at the time for the station. The accident occurred about 11:45.
As soon as the accident occurred it was reported by the trainmen, the sheriff's office at Nevada notified and Deputy Sheriff Hanson located at Maxwell and he was soon on the scene of the accident.
Coroner Mills was called but after investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident decided that no inquest was necessary.
After identification was finally established and the officers released the body, badly mangles, was taken to the Cooper mortuary at Maxwell, where it will be prepared for burial.
It is thought probable that the funeral will be held at the Lutheran church in Cambridge Friday afternoon.
This marks the fourth death, three of them tragedies, in the Sesker family since July 4 last.
The first occurred on the evening of the holiday, when Eldon Sesker, 28, shot and killed himself in his auto on the streets of Cambridge.
A few months later another brother, Francis Sesker was struck and killed by a Milwaukee engine, while walking between Cambridge and the family home a mile west.
The father, Lars Sesker, pioneer of that neighborhood and father of a large family of children, died about two months ago. The wife and mother has been dead for about three years.
