MICHAEL CARMODY DIED HERE TODAY

HAD RETURNED TO NEVADA YEAR AGO AFTER RESIDENCE IN PERRY

Michael Carmody, 54, died shortly after noon today a the John Maroney home, 1234 Lincoln avenue, as the result of a stroke of apoplexy suffered about two years ago, while the family was living at Perry.

Mr. and Mrs. Carmody and their son Francis moved to Nevada about a year ago and during the winter months have occupied the home of his sister, Mrs. Maroney, while the sister and husband were wintering in California.

Mr. and Mrs. Maroney are expected home some time this afternoon.

Mr. Carmody who lived in Story county in an earlier day, had been a resident of Perry for many years previous to returning here.

Besides his wife and son, he leaves a brother John Carmody of the Federal Land bank of Omaha and two sisters, Mrs. Maroney of Nevada and Mrs. Walker of Denver. One brother, Stephen Carmody, died at his farm home near Zearing, a few years ago.

Funeral and burial arrangements are yet undetermined, pending the arrival of relatives.

Carmody Funeral Services at Perry Thursday Morning

Funeral services for Michael E. Carmody, 56, who died at his home here shortly after the noon hour on Monday, will be held Thursday morning at 9:00 at the Catholic church in Perry. The services will be in charge of his longtime pastor, Father James Cleary of Perry assisted by Father J. Daniel E. Gorman of St. Patrick's church, Nevada.

The funeral party will drive to Perry Wednesday afternoon and the body will be in state at the Gallagher Funeral home there from the time of arrival until the funeral hour. Interment will be at Perry.

The deceased was a son of Patrick and Mary Carmody born at Forreston, Ill., July 29, 1878. He came with his parents to Story county, was raised here to young manhood, later attending a business college in Des Moines and was for some time employed in Des Moines. From there he went to Perry where his home was for 25 years and where he held a responsible position in a banking house for many years.

He was married on June 19, 1912, to Miss Mayme Dowling, a teacher in the Perry schools. Two sons were born to them. James, the eldest died in 1932, and Francis, 18 years of age today, with the wife and mother survive.

It was about two years ago that he suffered a stroke of apoplexy which eventually caused his death. The home had been in Nevada for the past year.

He leaves besides his wife and son, two brothers, John of Omaha and Patrick of Denver, Colo.; and two sisters, Mrs. George Walker of Denver and Mrs. Mary Maroney of Nevada.

He also leaves among nieces and nephews, John and Patrick Carmody of Zearing, John Carmody Jr., of Omaha, Pauline Carmody of Zearing, Patrick Walker of San Francisco and Mrs. George Walker of Saskatchewan, Canada. There are also 14 grand nephews and nieces.
