Well Known Farmer Dead; Funeral Services Thursday

State Center, Sept. 15--Byron Borton, 68, a resident of Marshall county for more than 60 years, died at his farm home northwest of State Center at 4:30 p. m. Tuesday, after an illness of heart trouble.

Mr. Borton was born in Lorraine county, Ohio, Feb. 18, 1871, a son of James and Mary [should be Margaret] Borton, and came to Marshall county with his parents when he was five years old. The family settled near St. Anthony, which continued to be his home until he moved to the State Center neighborhood four years ago.

He married Miss Ellen Burns Jan. 22, 1896, and she survives with three of seven children born to them The children are Bonnie Borton and Mrs. Alice McCoy of State Center and Charles Borton of St. Anthony. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Harvey, Hollandale, Minn.; Mrs. Roy Allen, Iowa Falls; Mrs. Anna Berk [should be Beck] and Mrs. Mary Burns, Marshalltown; Arthur, Radcliffe; Russel, St. Anthony, and Ed and N. C. Borton of Albion.

Funeral services were held in Clemons at 2:30 p. m. Thursday, at the Congregational church. Burial was in the Clemons cemetery.
