Tragic Death of William H. Cook at Home In Maryland

Mrs. Rose Cook of 1035 K avenue, Nevada has learned of the recent death of her son William Henry Cook, who died at his home in Silver Springs, Maryland, from complications arising from injuries sustained when struck by a falling timber on a construction job on which he was employed. Death occurred on January 10 and the funeral and interment took place there three days later.

William Henry Cook was the son of Michael and Rosanna Cook, born May 1st, 1875 on a farm located southeast of Colo, moving later with his parents to a farm northwest of Fernald where he grew to manhood.

He was united in marriage to Mildred Wood of Colo. They lived in this same community and Zearing with the exception of a few years when they lived in Eldora. Here he worked at his trade as a mason and bricklayer. In about the year 1916 during the war he accepted a position at Washington, D. C., as contractor in reconstruction work. With his family he moved to Washington and there he lived until his death. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, four daughters, Nellie, Doris, Ilo and Lillian, all of Los Angeles, Calif., and one son Aloy of Silver Springs, Md., one son Milo, preceded his father in infancy.

His aged mother, Mrs. Rose Cook of Nevada, brother, Frank Cook of Zearing, Orval of Nevada and sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Smith of Ames, Mrs. Emma Handsaker of Fernald and Mrs. Vernie Shaffer of Nevada, also many acquaintances, who will remember him as a young man.
