THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 8, 1932, page 1. "MRS. K. W. TOMLINSON DIES AT HOSPITAL - Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson passed away at the Iowa Lutheran hospital, Des Moines, Tuesday morning at 1:45 as a result of a Caesarean operation. The baby daughter survived and is being cared for at the hospital for the present. The operation was performed last Thursday and Mrs. Tomlinson seemed to be getting along very well until Sunday when she took a turn for the worse and blood transfusion was resorted to, her brother, Floyd Carver, furnishing the blood. All efforts, however, proved futile and she continued to grow weaker, passing away early Tuesday morning. The family have the sympathy of their many friends and acquaintances of this community in their hour of sorrow. Funeral services will be held at the M. E. church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. M. Scheuermann."

HELEN CARVER-TOMLINSON - Helen Carver-Tomlinson, daughter of Jabez and Ursula Carver, was born January 8, 1901, near Maxwell, Iowa, and passed away December 6, 1932, at the age of 31 years, 10 months and 28 days. She spent her entire life in the community of Maxwell, where she finished her schooling and established her home. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Tomlinson October 17, 1922. To this union two children were born, Patricia Lou, who passed away in infancy, December 2, 1925, and Joyce Helen, who survives her mother. Other surviving members of her family are: Her husband, her mother, Mrs. Ursula Carver, one brother, Floyd, of Maxwell; one nephew, Byron, and two nieces, Edith and Ruth Carver. Besides these are many relatives and friends. Helen was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church, of Maxwell, for almost a decade. She revealed her faith in Jesus her Master through her quiet and steady life of love and loyalty. She has gone to be with Him who has the power to speak the "Well done" to those who love him. She was a faithful member of Annie Laurie Chapter, No. 293, O. E. S., of Maxwell, in which she found satisfaction. She was also an active member of the Alpha Delphian Chapter. Helen had an abiding interest in those movements of education and enlightenment, those fraternal groups and spiritual forces that help to bring the more abundant life to the people of our community. She was a woman of deep convictions which contributed to make her life one of stability and beauty. Her friendship was of that high quality that brought enrichment and encouragement to those who knew her. Today when the home duties of so many has become a chore to be performed, Helen made of it a pleasure and a career. She loved her home and made of it a place of wholesome living and enjoyable contentment. Many have felt this atmosphere radiate as they sat by her fireside. The passing of Helen from our midst has greatly impoverished her loved ones and friends, and means to many others an irreparable loss. "To love someone more dearly every day To help a wandering child to find his way To ponder over noble thought and pray And smile when evening falls. This is my task. And when my Savior by and by to meet When Faith has done her task on earth complete And lay my homage at my Master's feet Within the Jasper walls This crown my task. - E. L. Ashford." The funeral services were held in the M. E. church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. M. Scheuermann, the subject being, " Gospel of Faith." The text, Hebrews 11: 1, "Now faith means we are confident of what we hope for, convinced of what we do not see." The music was furnished by a double quartet, including Mrs. D. L. Ray, Mrs. O. W. Parker, Mrs. C. T. Kirk, Mrs. Emmet Scott, H. E. Fackler, C. B. French, G. N. Nelson and L. G. Scott, with Mrs. W. T. John at the piano. "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "The Summer Land of Beauty" and "We'll Never Say Goodbye in Heaven," were the selections used. The pall bearers were six of her cousins, Messrs. T. J. Carver, Jesse Carver, Dale Lundy, Glen Frazier, Roy Cook and Russell Mowen. The floral tributes were profuse and very beautiful and were arranged at the church by Mesdames F. F. Cooper, Joe Young, J. R. Vallindingham and J. A. Olinger. Burial took place in the beautiful Peoria cemetery by the side of her infant daughter, Patricia Lou. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: J. W. Lundy, Miss Helen Lundy, Miss Annie Lundy, Dale Lundy, Mr. and Mrs. James Gideon, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pegram, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Peacock and daughter, Maxine, Mr. and Mrs. Will Grant, of Indianola; Mrs. Rose Preston, of Carlisle; Hugh Lundy, of Albia; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Stuart and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McIntyre, of Iowa Falls; James and John Tomlinson, of Springfield, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Tomlinson and Mr. and Mrs. Harv Borts, of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cook, George Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Frazier and son, Glen, Jr. of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Tomlinson, of Bondurant; Mr. and Mrs. Harve Tomlinson, of Elkhart; Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Teeter, of Marshalltown; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Galentine, of Green Mountain; Mr. and Mrs. Grant Owen, of Newton; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Stanton, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Inman, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Carver, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Carver, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Carver, Ben Carver and D. E. Carver, all of Collins.
