MAXWELL IOWA TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday September 22, 1904, page 1, "Obituary - Irene Maude Bell was born in Polk county, Iowa, January 29, 1876, and died September 16, 1904, being twenty-eight years, seven months and seventeen day old. She grew to woman hood in Polk county and on February 19, 1904 (* see editorial note below), she was united in marriage to Albert E. Tomlinson. To this union two children were born, Nora Bell and Howard. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two children, her parents, John and Mary Bell of Des Moines; four sisters: Mrs. Myrtle Conner, of Maxwell; Mrs. Nellie Miller, Jennie and Lola Bell, of Des Moines; also three brother; Ray [Roy], Bert and Glen, of Des Moines. Mrs. Tomlinson was converted some years ago, but last winter, being dissatisfied with her experience, she went forward with a number of others and renewed her covenant with her Master, and since that time has lived very close to God, never failing to hold family worship and taught her children to pray. She never united with the church but it was her intention to do so, but put it off thinking her health would permit her to attend to this duty and be baptized, but death removed her to the Church Triumphant. She was sweet spirited and full of sunshine. Everyone who knew her loved here; surely she will be missed. She told those who were nearest to her that she was ready to go, and while her death was sudden it was triumphant. She had been in poor health all summer, but no one thought the end was so near. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of a multitude of friends in their great bereavement. Truly can it be said in the words of the Revelator: "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, from henceforth, yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works to follow them." *Editorial Note: Research proves actual marriage date was 29 January 1896 at the home of Samual Scott, maternal grandfather to Ina.
