NEWSPAPER SOURCE UNKNOWN, November 11, 1915. "PASSING OF A GOOD CITIZEN - George Washington Tomlinson was born in Courtlang county, New York, March 7, 1846. He was married to Eliza Hook on December 3, 1871. Two children were born of this union, but only one, Mrs. Gertrude Gray, remains with the wife to morn the death of a loving husband and father, the other having passed away in infancy. The first years of his married life were spent in De Soto, Iowa, where he was engaged in the mercantile business. Later in years he spent two years in the railway mail service. The last years of his life he spent on a farm north of Kellogg, Iowa; about eight years ago removing to a farm west of Mitchellville, Iowa, where he resided at the time of his death. He united with the Christian church at an early age, and was a splendid example of the true Christian in his dealings with his fellow men. He was a member of the Masonic order and O. E. S. Besides his wife and daughter he leaves a sister and three brothers to mourn his loss. His death occurred Thursday, November 11th from pneumonia. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon and on Saturday the remains were taken to Kellogg, Iowa, where, in charge of the Masons, he was laid at rest.
