DEATH

Gerhard J. Wick

Funeral John (Guy) Wick, were held in St. Petri Lutheran church, Story City, Tuesday afternoon September 4 at two p.m. Pastor Rhuben O. Aga officiated. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Two granddaughters, Elsa and Katharine Mohn sang a duet. Mrs. Joel Jacobson was at the organ. Pall bearers were Hoyt Platts, Laverne Alsin, Harold Daleske, John Satre, Julius Satre and John McNunn.

Gerhard John Wick was born in Story City, Iowa March 2, 1900, the son of George Wick, born in Jondal, Hardanger, Norway, and Julia Peterson Wick, born in Story City.

He was baptized into the Christian Faith at St. Petri Lutheran church, Story City, and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran church in Roland. He attended the Roland Public Schools.

In 1923 he was united in marriage to Hazel S. Satre. For many years, he operated Guy's Produce in Gilbert and Story City. In 1954, he sold his business, and he and his wife moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

He was employed in Minneapolis until he retired in 1962. They then oved to Fishtrap Lake, Cushing, Minnesota.

He and his wife were planning to spend their remaining years at Bethany Manor, Story City and had a reservation there when he died.

He passed away at Brainard, Minnesota, September 1, 1973, which was the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage. Besides his wife Hazel, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Truman (JoAnn) Mohn of Minneapolis and Mrs. Paul E. (Palma) Duea of Bush, Louisianna, eight grandchildren: Martha Duea Williams, Temple, Texas; Mark Duea, Portsmouth, New York; Mary Duea, Bush, Louisianna; and Stephen, Elsa, Katharine, Jonathan and Monica Mohn, all of Minneapolis; also two sisters, Mrs. Vincent (Alice) Platts, Steamboat Rock, Iowa and Mrs. Oxis (Josie) Sampson of Radcliffe.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerhard John, Jr. and by his parents.
