Obituary

Mrs. Anna Kampley

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Kampley were held on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Fjeldberg Lutheran church with Pastor Merlin K. Norris officiating. The service opened by singing her favorite hymn "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Soloist was Melvin Vetter, who dang "In the Garden" and "The King Is Coming" accompanied by Mrs. Jacob Lee.

Pallbearers were Burnis Kalsem, Faltin Kalsem, Kenneth Kalsem, George Knaphus, Lawrence Knaphus, and Lyle Risvold. Interment was in Fjelberg Cemetery at Huxley.

Anna Valen Kampley was born on the Island of Louven, near Valen, Norway on Sept. 8, 1879 to parents John and Bertha Valen. She was baptized in the Lutheran church at Norway. She came to the U.S. with her parents when she was three years old and settled in Huxley.

She was confirmed in the Fjeldberg Lutheran church near Huxley and was united in marriage to Lars L. Kampley in 1905 at Huxley. To this union were born five children Lillian, Margaret, Kermit, Alma and Virginia. She passed away at her home on Nov. 27 at the age of 97 years.

She is survived by her son Kermit of San Diego, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Lillian (Kenneth) Larson of Des Moines and Virginia Kampley of Huxley; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Kalsem of Huxley and Marie Valen of Slater and many nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Andrew L. Knaphus of Richfield, Utah, and relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lars in 1962 and two daughters, her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
