He stopped in Maryland for a short time and then came to Illinois, where he has since resided. He made a profession of religion thirty-four years ago, and united with the M. E. church, and his Christian life was above reproach. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. McGee, of Franklin, after which the body was interred in the Davis Cemetery. The pall bearers were six of his sons. Mr. Oxley leaves a wife and daughter and seven sons, two sisters and three brothers to mourn his loss, but have the sympathy of the entire community for in him the church and neighborhood have lost a valuable friend."
