"OBITUARY - Lot Moore was born August 27, 1815, in Clearmont county, Ohio, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Phoebe Gamble, near Maxwell, Iowa, August 11, 1901, aged eighty-five years, eleven months and fourteen days. Glenn, October 27, 1842; to this union was born eight children, viz: John, William, Alexander, Oliver, Lot, Mattie Cooper, Phoebe Gamble and Mollie Squires, Mrs. Moore died January 22, 1860. Mr. Moore was again married in latter years to Aurelia Wilbur; to this union was born a daughter now Mrs. Nettie Maxwell. The second wife died July 12, 1866, and two sons have also preceeded** him to the spiritual world, the other children being present during his sickness and death. Father Moore moved from Ohio to Iowa in 1863 and located on a farm west of Iowa Center, which he retained to the time of his death. He joined the Evangelical church about 1867 in which he remained a faithful and consistent member until he was called home. Much that is praise-worthy might be said of Father Moore. He was a man of sterling character, sincere, honest, faithful, charitable, a kind husband, a loving father, an accommodating neighbor and a general favorite in the community where he has lived so long. He patiently lived and labored the full measure of his years and died in Him whom he had served. This good life has left its impression on the members of his own household and upon the community in which he lived. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the church at Iowa Center. Rev. B. H. Niebel, of Des Moines, who was at one time his pastor, conducted the services assisted by Rev. Clay Bobbitt, of Maxwell."
