William Hoel is dead at age 79, rites on Thurs.
William C. Hoel, 79, 730 Third St., Nevada died Monday evening at the Story County Hospital. He had been ill for the past month.
Born August 14, 1882 [should be 1892] near Nevada, he was the son of John P. and Emma Hoel. A retired barber, he had lived in Nevada all his life.
He was married to Josephine Taylor Sept. 2, 1919 in Albert Lea, Minn.
He was a member of the VFW and Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, one son Rex of State Center; four daughters, Mrs. Wilma Geisler of Nevada, Mrs. Jeanie Tomlinson of Des Moines, Mrs. Donna Sandmeier of McCallsburg and Mrs. Patricia Olson of Webster City; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother Guy Hoel of Milaca, Minn.; and four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Overbaugh and Mrs. Genevieve Hagen, both of Nevada, Mrs. Mable Wade of Albuquerque, N.M. and Mrs. Hazel Oxley of Ames.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and a son, Bill Hoel Jr.
Funeral services will be at the Ryan Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 3 with the Rev. Marvin Hulse officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
