THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday January 14, 1897, page 5, column 4. "LACY - On Saturday morning, Dec. 19, 1896, at his home in Dedham, Iowa, Robert G. Lacy, after only a few hour illness.** Mr. Lacy retired on Friday evening, slightly indisposed, and was very restless. About midnight his wife gave him some tea and morphine tablets. In the morning he was still feeling badly, and told his wife that he would wait until the house was warm before he got up. When she got her work done up she went to the stairs and asked him if he was asleep, and receiving no reply, went up and found him dead. The doctor and neighbors were at once summoned, but to** late to be of any assistance. Mr. Lacy was one of the earliest settlers in Cameron township, where he developed and still owns, one of the best farms. Several years ago he left the farm to his sons, and moved to Herndon, then to Coon Rapids, and finally to Dedham where he remained until the time of his death. He was born in Hopkins county, Ky. In 1831, and married his first wife there in 1858. He lived north of Iowa Center for several years, and is still Kindly remembered by the old settlers for his generous and kindly dealings with his fellow men. His family consisted of five sons, four of whom survive and live near Dedham. He also left one brother, John Lacy, and three sisters, Mrs. Lozemby, Johnson county, Mo.; Mrs. Sophia Jackson, of Pella, Iowa and Mrs. Mary C. Oxley , of this place. Mr. Lacy was a member of the Presbyterian church, and the funeral was conducted according to their rites by Revs. McConnell and Harvey, and the remains were laid to rest in Cameron Center cemetery, Audubon county, Iowa."
